Alzheimer's Society

Support for people affected by dementia.

Alzheimer's Society service offer during Covid-19

Dementia Connect is Alzheimer's Society's personalised support and advice service. It's for people with dementia, their carers, families and friends. The service is free, easy to access by phone or online, and puts the service user in touch with Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Advisers. Dementia Connect is delivered over the telephone, online and face to face.

Although Dementia Connect can't be delivered in its usual formal, we have made every effort to ensure that we can continue to support people affected by dementia in the safest way possible. Whilst our face to face support continues to be suspended, we are continuing to deliver our services over the telephone and virtually - bilingually.

Our Swansea Bay Dementia Advisers, Ashley Bryant, Eryl Davies and Lisa Roberts are continuing to support anyone with a diagnosis of dementia, anyone with a mild cognitive impairment diagnosis, anyone waiting to be diagnosed or going through the diagnosis process and their carers.

The services delivered by the Dementia Advisers and their volunteers are:

  • regular welfare calls
  • regular companion calls
  • case management
  • CrlSP - Carers Information and Support Programme (this is being delivered virtually)

We are also delivering the following services:

  • Advocacy for people with dementia
  • Virtual Singing for the Brain (via Zoom)
  • Ring and Sing (Singing for the Brain over the telephone)
  • Virtual Dementia Voice activities (user involvement).
