Croeso festival Jean-Christophe Novelli

Croeso is a two-day festival, celebrating all things Welsh and held around St David's Day each year in Swansea's city centre, this year falling on Saturday 29th February and Sunday 1st March.

Dubbed the nation's favourite French chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli, who has catered for royalty, heads of state, and Hollywood stars, will be creating some specialty dishes to inspire visitors to the free event.

Jean-Christophe said: "I am delighted to be spending St David's day at the Croeso Food and Drink Festival in Swansea. This is set be a fantastic event for all the family.

"I am looking forward to cooking with some of Swansea Bay's and Wales' finest produce and cannot wait to meet everyone. See you all on the 1st March!"

When he cooks on Sunday 1 March, Novelli promises to be the star attraction of the two-day programme that will also feature local chefs and celebrity home cooks making good use of fresh local produce and providing plenty of inspiration for foodies.

The Food Marquee in Portland Street will host most of the free live cookery demonstrations taking place throughout the weekend with some, on Saturday only, delivered at the centre of Swansea Market.

The event will see Swansea's Oxford Street taken over by a host of stalls featuring produce from Welsh food and drink traders. And, there will be music and street entertainment in Castle Square adding to the atmosphere.

A celebration of all things Welsh, Croeso will see a 'Cwtsh Marquee' erected in Oxford Street to host a variety of activities, delivered by Menter Iaith Abertawe, providing fun and entertaining opportunities to experience Welsh language and culture that everyone can enjoy.

The free event is organised by Swansea Council. Councillor Robert Francis-Davies, cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: "We're excited to be bringing this event to Swansea.

"It's a great opportunity to showcase some of our local fantastic food and drink and also attract new people into the city centre to see some of the chefs in action and experience something new in Swansea."

Joining Jean-Christophe Novelli, and displaying their culinary skills at the Croeso Food and Drink Festival are: Imran Nathoo, MasterChef 2017 quarter-finalist; Katie Davies, BBC Best Home Cook 2018 quarter-finalist; Michelle Evans-Fecci, Great British Bake Off 2019; and Sian Day and Rob Bowen, semi-finalists on ITV's My Kitchen Rules.
