Help your award-winning market chase ultimate accolade

BUSY shoppers and other fans of Wales' largest indoor market are being urged to vote for Swansea Indoor Market in this year's British market awards.

The award-winning jewel in the city's crown has just benefited from a £200,000 makeover for its lighting system and thousands of visitors a week visit the bustling hall.

Now fans have the chance to let their fingers do the voting by nominating the market in the National Association of British Markets Authorities (NABMA) competition to find the best-loved market in Britain.

Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for investment, regeneration and tourism said: "We all know Swansea Indoor Market is the jewel in the crown of our city centre shopping experience and we want everyone else to know it as well.

"By voting for Swansea people will be helping tell the world what a great place the market is."

Shoppers come from far and wide to pick up produce from friendly, knowledgeable stall-holders. One visitor said of the market: "The best fresh fruit and veg, meats and more importantly fish, glorious fish. We travelled miles to buy our fish from here."

Another added: "Great variety of stalls. Fish, meat, veg, clothes, jewellery in fact almost everything. Lots of lovely places to eat or just have a coffee. Lovely friendly people. Love it."

Swansea Market is the largest indoor market in Wales, an award winning, historic venue that offers tourists and residents a unique experience.

More than 100 stalls sell a wide selection of fresh, local produce and traditional Welsh goods as well as gifts, jewellery and accessories, cosmetics, leather goods and more. There are cafés and coffee shops for shoppers to recharge their batteries.
