Pupils make exceptional contribution to life at Welsh medium comprehensive

PUPILS' contribution to life at a Welsh medium comprehensive in Swansea is exceptional and they, along with staff and the wider community, take obvious pride in their school, inspectors have found.

This has created a close-knit community where students make strong progress in their academic studies and develop into active, responsible and polite citizens.

Inspectors from Estyn spent a week at Ysgol Gyfun Bryn Tawe last term.

They have rated the school as excellent in two of the five inspection areas - wellbeing and attitudes to learning along with care, support and guidance.

The school was rated as good in the other three - standards; the teaching and learning experience and leadership and management.

The report states: "Ysgol Bryn Tawe is an open, energetic community that has pupils' wellbeing at the heart of its work. Pupils, staff, governors and parents convey obvious pride in being part of the school community, and there are close-knit, constructive relationships between them all."
