Lifelong Learning - PC beginners stage 2 (S2)

A 10 week course aimed at further developing the skills of IT learners who currently have some experience in using computers.

Following on from PC beginners stage 1 (S1), this course will allow you to refresh your knowledge and add to your current skills. The course will cover computer PC housekeeping, including organising files and folders. You will work through basic use of Microsoft Word, sending and receiving emails and using the internet for searching, retrieving and downloading information. You will also cover the essential elements of PC security and virus protection, and various Microsoft software packages.

Some key elements of the course include:

  • File management, creating files and folders.
  • Digital responsibility and online safety.
  • Emails and attachments.
  • Searching and researching on the internet.
  • Downloading content from the internet.
  • Using Microsoft Word to create documents with cutting, copying and pasting.

Suitable for: This course is a follow on from PC beginners stage 1 (S1).

Duration: 10 weeks.

Course fee: No charge.

What you will need

Computers will be available for the course. All resources for printing will be provided. You will need a memory stick. A notebook and pen will be helpful for recording notes.
