Lifelong Learning - Digital photography for improvers

This class is suitable for students who are already competent using all camera settings including ISO/white balance and have a good understanding of composition.

Students will continue to improve their camera skills and further develop their eye for composition and add interest to their photos by finding creative viewpoints and angles, using lines, patterns, foregrounds, frames and use of colour. Photos will be taken on location covering landscapes, details, floral and macro shots, sunsets, silhouettes, water and movement.

Over the ten weeks, students will notice their photographic ability improve through hands-on practice by going out on field trips. Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills and gain confidence working with natural light, followed by a review and critique of their images in class.

This class will suit you if you want to learn how to:

  • Use manual settings.
  • Work with available light.
  • Use macro photography.
  • Use different lenses - telephoto, wide angle, macro.
  • Develop your creative skills.
  • Attend field trips.

Suitable for: Students who have already completed a beginners course and have mastered basic camera programmes, who are confident using manual mode, understand depth of field, ISO, meter readings and white balance.

This course is ideal for photographers looking to realise the potential of their cameras and develop their own creativity while exploring the beauty of the local environment, enjoying the outdoors and making new friends with a group of like-minded people.

Duration: 10 weeks.

Course fee: £69 full fee / £48 concessionary fee.

What you will need

You will need a digital camera, a pen, a notebook and folder to store handouts. You will also need to bring your camera's manual and a memory stick.
