Leon urges residents to get their High 5 nominations in before deadline day

The final whistle will blow for nominations for the 2018 High 5 Awards this Friday (20th July).

High 5 Awards Leon 2016

Swans legend Leon Britton has put out a final plea for nominations for the city's premier awards for inspirational children and young people.

Leon is the ambassador for the High 5 awards and he's been thanking scores of people who have nominated so far including schools, parents, council staff and other individuals.

But he called for anyone who has not yet nominated to get online to make sure youngsters, groups, or school classes, doing great things in the city are nominated too.

Leon said: "The entries so far have been amazing but I don't want any youngsters who deserve a nomination to miss out. I hope everyone will take some time this week before the deadline to recommend someone they know for these special honours.

"Every child nominated shows them their efforts are appreciated and that they should be proud of being an inspiration to others to overcome the challenges the face and succeed.

"Those entries that particularly impress the judges will go on to receive a special prize and attend a special ceremony. Nominations can be for individuals, groups or whole school classes.

"It's easy to nominate online at www.swansea.gov.uk/high5awards."

The High 5 awards are open to any child or young person or group in three age ranges - under 13s, aged 19 or under or 20-25 year olds resident in Swansea, educated, or receiving support here.

All you need to do is let judges know why you think the person, group or class is an inspiration and deserves a High 5 Award.

Nominations should include how they have improved, what they have achieved, any challenges they have overcome and how that's changed their life or benefited their family, community or school.
