Dreams come true with outdoor theatre special at Oystermouth Castle

CLASSIC Shakespeare comedy will be brought to life at historic Oystermouth Castle next week.


An outdoor theatre performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream takes place at the 12th Century attraction on Thursday,July 19.

The Bard's enduringly popular tale of love, intrigue and magic will be staged by Quantum Theatre.

The event is fully licensed and will offer craft beers. Fforestfach-based Panini's, who are sponsoring the big night, will offer hot and cold food.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council's cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: "This promises to be a wonderfully funny and exuberant production of a theatre classic - and it will take place in a glorious Swansea setting.

"I'm confident that those who attend will be enchanted by an exciting, funny production designed to appeal to the whole family and suitable for all.

"It's a great opportunity to eat some great food, take in some fresh air, enjoy the performance and watch the sun setting over Swansea Bay. Tickets are selling fast."

Outdoor theatre has been successfully held at Oystermouth Castle for a number of years. This season is also due to include an August 9 performance of Kenneth Grahame's The Reluctant Dragon, a story of bravery and friendship.

Discounted tickets and family tickets for A Midsummer Night's Dream are available if bought in advance. Gates open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.
