27 Aug 2018
11.00AM. Ends 4.30pm
Oystermouth Castle

Step back in time and try your hand at some traditional crafts!

Think of castles and no doubt you'll think of knights in shining armour or maybe a princess in tower, but have you ever thought what life in a castle was really like?

On Bank Holiday Monday we'll be shedding light on aspects of castle life, showcasing traditional everyday objects people might have used and how they were made.

A carpenter will be demonstrating green woodworking, a form of carpentry using freshly felled wood which is softer and, therefore, much easier to shape using hand tools. There'll also be opportunities for you to pick up a tool and have a go!

Try some traditional willow weaving, demonstrated and taught by local artist Sara Holden. Create and take home a beautiful weaving, inspired by the Castle and its grounds, or make an enchanting willow dreamcatcher.

Fancy making a mediaeval style jug or storage jar? We'll also have a potter on hand showing you how to make everyday objects simply from clay.

Normal castle admission charges apply.
