Authors' library lectures are bound to be page-turners

Library customers in Swansea will have a chance to meet and learn more about three bestselling authors, Tracy Rees (pictured), Emma Kavanagh and Kate Hamer, as part of Swansea Council Libraries' August is for Authors month.

Tracy Rees will be the first author to visit Swansea Central Library on Wednesday 1st August, 6 pm -7 pm. Tracy won the Richard and Judy "Search for a Bestseller" competition in 2015 with her debut novel Amy Snow.

Tracy will be talking about her new novel, Darling Blue, a story about love letters and one woman's quest to find her own destiny. To celebrate the release of Darling Blue, Swansea Council Libraries will be running a competition for customers to write a love letter to their library. The winner will be invited to meet Tracy at the event and receive a signed copy of the book.  

Emma Kavanagh will be visiting Swansea Central Library on Wednesday 15thAugust, 6 pm - 7 pm. Emma is an acclaimed UK bestselling author, whosepsychological thrillers are beautifully written and full of suspense. Born and raised in South Wales, she is a former police and military psychologist. Emma will be talking to library customers about her career as a bestselling writer of thriller novels.

To bring the August is for Authors Month to a close, Kate Hamer will be visiting Swansea Central Library on Wednesday 22nd August, 6 pm - 7 pm. In 2011, Kate won the Rhys Davies short-story prize and her short stories have appeared in various collections. Her debut novel The Girl in the Red Coat was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Prize, the British Book Industry Awards Debut Fiction Book of the Year, the John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger, and the Wales Book of the Year. 

Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: "We are delighted that three of the best authors around at the moment are visiting the Central Library.

"People are always looking for good reads to while away the summer holidays and the authors who are joining us will no doubt spark plenty of interest."
