Bishop Gore School: Science Laboratory Technician

Closing date: 26/02/18. Grade 4 Pt 13 -16 pro rata. This will be a temporary appointment to 31 August 2018 in the first instance. The Lab Technician will work full time (37 hours/week - 8.00am - 4.00pm) and term time only (39 weeks/year).

The governors of this popular 11-19 school are wishing to appoint a Science Lab Technician.  

As a Lab Technician you will play a vital role in the provision of high quality Science teaching in the school. Under the instruction and guidance of departmental staff you will provide support for all aspects of Science. The main duties of this post are to ensure the efficient preparation and organisation of scientific equipment and resources for lessons as required. You will maintain equipment, set up experiments, assist in practical classes, carry out cleaning tasks, handling and storage of chemicals whilst meeting health and safety standards.

We are looking for someone with recent lab experience. You will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and show a passion for Science. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team. You will have experience of setting up equipment in a laboratory environment for practical lessons and have a good knowledge of health and safety procedures including COSHH and CLEAPSS. You will need to be well organised with a good attention to detail. Previous experience in a school laboratory would be an advantage but not essential. Training will be provided.
