Please be seated and make more of our beauty spots

Park benches in some of Swansea's most beautiful locations can now be easily adopted by residents, businesses and other organisations.

Adopt a bench

You can adopt a seat in one of nine council parks and two coastal locations by simply going online.

A stainless steel plaque with an agreed engraving will be attached to the front of the bench for 10 years.

The innovation brings the successful long-standing Swansea Council scheme for the adoption of park benches into the digital age.

It will help the council cut costs and generate income to help meet the needs of residents now and in the future.

Other inquiries about memorial benches can still be made to the council's parks team by phone on 01792 280210.

Cllr Mark Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Environment Services, said: "Swansea Council's new Adopt a Bench scheme is a great way to support and enjoy wonderful Swansea locations where many people already enjoy time. Our parks and shorelines are a fantastic place for families to sit and relax.

"Adopting a bench is an ideal way to mark an important milestone or an event, or to commemorate the life of a loved-one.

"I urge all those interested to find full details on our council website. You will help make Swansea an accessible and sociable city - and an even better place to live."

The Adopt a Bench scheme applies to parks around the city plus Swansea promenade and Loughor foreshore.

Adoption costs £1,200 for an existing bench and £1,800 for a new one.
