The Welsh in Education Strategic Plan (WESP) is designed to be the guiding light for education in the language until the turn of the decade.

All local authorities in Wales are being asked to consult on Welsh Government amendments to their WESPs following a major consultation took place last year. The latest consultation in Swansea is only about the amendments recommended for its plan.

Jennifer Raynor, Cabinet Member for Education, said: "Swansea Council is fully committed to providing high-quality education in the national language of choice and to a high standard.

"The WESP covers education through the medium of Welsh and Welsh as a second language in English schools. But it also covers issues such as school transport, Welsh language training and the creation of school places to accommodate demand for Welsh medium education."

The latest version of the WESP with the amendments is available to see at  and the closing date for comments is October 10.
