Apply and pay for a copy death certificate online

You can use this form to request a copy death certificate.

Requests for certificates are usually processed in 5 working days after you apply. We offer a priority service for an extra £5.00 if you need the copy certificate sooner. For our priority service we aim to have the certificate ready on the same day as long as you apply by 12.00 midday and as long as you are able to provide exact information about the person.

Please note that you can only collect certificates during Register Office opening hours (Monday - Thursday 8.30am-4.30pm and Friday 8.30am-4.00pm). The Register Office is not open at weekends, bank holidays or extra statutory holidays.

For a copy death certificate you must tell us 

  • Name of the deceased
  • The date and place of death
  • The date of birth or age of the deceased
  • Any other information e.g. last address/occupation/name of spouse
