New fleet of collection vehicles coming to Swansea
A new fleet of vehicles is being introduced in Swansea to help maintain household waste collections.

Swansea Council is investing more than £8 million into the renewal of its entire fleet of recycling and waste collection vehicles with plans for a total of 37 brand new lorries to hit the roads between now and February 2025.
The existing fleet has been in operation for many years, travelling thousands of miles each week and the vehicles are reaching the end of their life expectancy.
The Council has already taken delivery of 17 of the new vehicles as part of the initial tendering process.
A further 20 vehicles, including two electric vehicles, will be brought into use over the next few months.
Cyril Anderson, Cabinet Member for Community in Swansea Council, said: "When we approved our annual budget earlier this year, we committed to investing more than £8 million towards fleet replacement and I'm delighted this is now taking place.
"These collection vehicles travel vast distances over the lifetime of our vehicle contracts. During that time they are maintained and in the main, able to operate effectively.
"We do sometimes experience mechanical issues which can happen at short notice and disrupt collections.
"I'm delighted that we now have the new vehicles operating across Swansea with more to come throughout the year."
The Council has also confirmed its plans to recruit 20 new waste and recycling collection staff. The new recruits will help the Council avoid its reliance on external agency staff - who cover for council staff that are on annual leave or suffering ill health.
Cllr Anderson added: "To make sure waste collections take place when they should, we often have to rely on external agency staff to cover our own council-staff when they are ill or on holidays. Sometimes the shortage of these staff can lead to disruption in collections and has happened fairly recently.
"The recruitment of 20 new staff to our collections team should give us more flexibility in terms of our ability to bring in staff at short notice and prevent household waste collections from being disrupted."
