Book of Condolence opened for people of Swansea

A Book of Condolence has been opened in Swansea this morning for members of the public to pay their respects to HM The Queen.

The book is available at the Civic Centre Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and on Saturday mornings from 9am to Noon. Residents can also sign the book of condolence online here: www.swansea.gov.uk/bookofcondolence

Floral tributes can be placed on the Rotunda Green at Guildhall during the period of National Mourning, which will continue until the funeral of Her Majesty at Westminster Abbey.

The council will also be lighting up Guildhall in purple during the evenings as a mark of respect throughout the period. Swansea Arena will also be lit in purple.

The official proclamation on the death of Her Majesty and on the accession of King Charles III takes place in London tomorrow, Saturday. That will be followed by a local proclamation on the steps of Guildhall on Sunday. The public is invited to the short occasion which will take place at 1pm.

A remembrance ceremony at Swansea's 'Babies Garden' at Morriston Cemetery that was due to be held this Sunday has been postponed. A new date will be announced in due course.
