Child Practice Reviews

Multi-agency child practice reviews are undertaken when there is a 'significant incident' where abuse or neglect of a child is known or suspected.

The overall purpose of a review is to promote a positive culture of multi-agency child protection learning and reviewing.

The Western Bay Safeguarding Children Board (WBSCB) is responsible for coordinating and publishing Child Practice Reviews which involve children in the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend area.  Detailed information can be found on the WBSCB websiteOpens new window .

All Safeguarding Children Boards in Wales follow Welsh Government guidance which describes how Reviews must take place. Before Child Practice Reviews Safeguarding Boards undertook a different process to learn from these situations called Serious Case Reviews.
