Our commitment to Community Sport....

Following the exciting launch of our new Sport and Health brand last month, we're slowly introducing you to our diverse team. You've already been introduced to the half that is our wonderful Health and Well-being team, it's now time to introduce you to the other half - yes, it's Community Sport.

Building stronger communities through the power of sport and physical activity is incredibly important to us here at Sport and Health. It's a passion of ours to do what we can as a team to improve individual and community quality of life throughout Swansea.

We really want Swansea to be a place where our diverse communities are stronger, healthier, happier and safer where there is safe and easy access to our vibrant sporting services and facilities both built and those in the natural environment.

We also understand that sport in our communities is enhanced by a thriving voluntary and professional workforce, who are vital in providing opportunities for grass roots sport through to sport at the highest level.

Would you like to be more active in you communities?

You'll find out much more about our individual projects and community-based schemes in the coming weeks but for now, here's a little taster for you...

Supporting young people in our primary and secondary schools and throughout the wider community is hugely important to us as we know that learning physical skills contributes to meaningful lifelong physical literacy journey for us all. Our dedicated and dynamic team of Active Young People Officers and Community Coaches are passionate about this.

Our School Swimming Programme offers the best possible swimming and water safety provision and has been designed to deliver a comprehensive learn to swim experience for all school pupils attending National Curriculum swim lessons.  It gives pupils the opportunity to learn life skills and swim more frequently in any aquatic discipline that they choose.  This programme is delivered alongside our facility partners Freedom Leisure and the Wales National Pool Swansea.

We have numerous exciting projects that aim to tackle inequalities in our communities which include Disability Sport, 'street sport' schemes such as StreetGames, Us Girls and StreetGames and developing ethnic diversity in sport.  These are developed throughout our communities alongside our equally enthusiastic partners such as Disability Sport Wales, EYST, StreetGames Wales and Freedom Leisure.

Are you at the heart of your local voluntary workforce?  Are you looking to develop and grow your club further?

The opportunities we are able to provide in our communities are essential, but we know only too well that these opportunities are so much more effective with a thriving voluntary and professional workforce, great facilities and a strong community club structure.  Our Community Sport team is there to provide that support.

If you are looking for funding or volunteering and coaching support or maybe some advice on club or facility development, then please let us know, alongside our partners in Sport Wales and National Governing Bodies of sport we're here to help and can point you in the right direction.

Don't forget to keep a look out for more exciting information regarding our incredibly successful Community Sport projects over the coming weeks and months.

In the meantime, please get in touch if sport in your community means as much to you as it does to us.  You can contact us at
