Swansea Council teams have been attending sites across the city in response to more than 20 trees which have been uprooted during Storm Eunice.

The Council's Highways and Parks teams have worked in partnership with local police and other services to close roads temporarily so trees could be removed safely.

Household waste collections for Friday were postponed to avoid rubbish bags getting blown around communities. Crews are expected to return to parts of the city over the weekend where collections were affected.

Marina staff have also been working closely with boat owners in the city's marina to assist them in keeping their boats safe following the news that a smaller vessel in the marina had sunk.

Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, has thanked staff in the Council for braving the severe weather and helping keep residents safe.

Cllr Stewart, said, "Many of our teams have been working in the run up to the storm to try and reduce its impact on the city, making sure culverts are not blocked to prevent flooding.

"The high winds have led to many trees being uprooted with some falling onto public roads. We have worked closely with emergency services to get out there as soon as possible to remove fallen trees and get roads reopened.

"The public have also played their part in reporting issues to us through our call centre and using social media. This has helped us prioritise where we need to be.

"I'm grateful for all the support our teams have provided during the storm to help protect residents and also the help of emergency services. Storms of this severity are thankfully quite rare but I am really pleased with the response by all our teams."
