Approval of food business
Certain food businesses (in particular those supplying food of animal origin to other food businesses) may need approval before starting any food operations.
Examples of types of premises that are required to be approved are stand alone (ie not attached to a slaughter house, cutting plant or game handling establishment):
- meat processing plants
- meat preparation plants
- minced meat processing operations and mechanically separated meat processing plants
- cold stores.
To obtain food premises approval you should contact food and safety team who will be able to advise you and provide you with the application form.
