ALN - Post 16 / 19

When you reach 16 there are a number of options which could be open to you, including further education or entering the world of work.

It is important to note that where you have already had two or more years of further education or training, you are not guaranteed access to more. There is no entitlement to continuous education or training, nor an entitlement to the provision of your choice (although your views, wishes and feelings must be taken into account).

Day services for young adults with ALN / learning disability

There are a number of different day services for young adults who have an ALN or a learning disability.

Further education

In Swansea, Gower college offers young adults the opportunity to continue their education.

Sixth forms

When you reach 16 you may wish to attend sixth form. Sixth forms can be attached to comprehensive schools and continue the learner's education up until 18 years old.

Specialist colleges

Specialist colleges can offer day or residential provision for students aged 16 to 25, giving young people the chance to develop skills, learn and become more independent.
