ALN - Complex Health Needs

Your child / young person may have been diagnosed with complex health needs. This may include illness, disability or sensory impairment.

They may require a significant amount of high-level additional support on a daily basis. A child / young person might have complex needs from birth, or after an illness or injury.

Next steps

If you are concerned that your child / young person may have complex health needs, contact your GP.

If you are concerned that your child / young person's complex health needs are impacting their learning, talk to your child / young person's school / college. Speak to the class teacher or Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo) and they will be able to work with you and work out what happens next. If your child is under 5 years old, you need to speak to your Health Visitor.
