Our Western Bay Adoption Service aims to improve services for both adopters and children who are seeking adoption.

Ultimately we want a child's journey leading up to adoption to be smooth and as short as possible, focusing on finding forever families for children in the Western Bay area and beyond.

What we do

The adoption service is responsible for the recruitment, training and assessment of prospective adopters and finding families for children who need to be adopted.

In addition we provide information, advice and guidance to:

  • anyone who is considering adoption;
  • existing/approved adoptive parents;
  • adopted children - including those who are now adults;
  • parents/guardians of such children; and
  • birth families and relatives, including counselling

It could be you

As long as you are over 21, live in the UK, have no cautions or convictions against children, and you have space in your home, you have the potential to adopt.

It's all about family

We have a range of children of all ages who are waiting for adoptive families. They include children who need to be placed on their own or with siblings and who are with and without additional difficulties.

Quality of service is everything

We pride ourselves on providing high quality customer service and a more robust and timely process for the adopters, engaging with them on a continual basis.

The adoption process

Collectively, Western Bay is proud of its reputation in assessing the majority of prospective adopters and being ready to attend panel within five to seven months.

Once you make the important and life-changing decision to adopt, it's understandable that you will want the process to be as quick as possible. Waiting for something you really want is extremely hard and frustrating. However, this isn't something that we can rush. We need to ensure that adoption is completely right for you and importantly, that we correctly match children with suitable families.

You can count on experienced staff

Whilst adoption is rewarding, it can also be stressful at times - it's no walk in the park. That's why it's important we provide adopters with experienced members of staff who can guide and support them throughout the adoption process. Experience brings a greater understanding of the different emotions felt by the adopters at different stages, and the support they require to help them through this sensitive period. Be assured, we are there for you every step of the way.

Discover the joys of parenthood

There are many children who need permanent or 'forever' families. More children could be adopted if the right families came along.

If you are thinking about adopting a child, we can offer you advice, guidance and support. We understand that adoption is a big decision for anyone to make, which is why all our team have the experience to answer any questions you may have.

Would you like more information on adoption? The Western Bay Adoption Service is always happy to help and would love to hear from you.
