Swansea Council is bringing in highway crews to resurface the Ynysforgan roundabout at Junction 45 which has suffered from continued potholes in recent years.

The improvements are set to take place overnight from September 24 to September 30 as part of the council's £7.5m investment in highway infrastructure in this financial year.

Mark Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure Management, said: "Ynysforgan is one of the busiest roundabouts on the city network and it means that repairs have to be carefully managed to keep disruption to a minimum.

"Our intention is to do the work in a sequence of overnight resurfacing starting at 8pm and going on until 6am. It will mean there will be some inconvenience for drivers as there will be times when part or all of the motorway junction will be closed.

"Although it is booked-in for seven nights, we will be working hard to complete the work ahead of schedule.

The project is part of a package of road upgrades this year that included the £500,000 Fabian Way resurfacing scheme and the improvements on Peniel Green Road.

Cllr Thomas added: "We made a commitment in our annual budget to invest heavily in our highway infrastructure in 2018/18.

"The recent completion of Fabian Way and Peniel Green Road and now Ynysforgan roundabout should hopefully send out a positive message about our efforts to keep our roads in good condition."
