WIMD Indicator Data

Annual indicator data from the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD).

As part of its WIMD 2019 outputs, Welsh Government has published the local area indicator data used to compile the Index.

There is a broad range of data available, with each WIMD indicator - listed below - falling into one of the eight domains of deprivation: Income, Employment, Health, Education, Access to Services, Housing, Community Safety and Physical Environment. Further information about each of the indicators used in WIMD 2019 is available in the attached list of  Domains and Indicators (PDF) [474KB]

The data files included on this page include the available WIMD 2019 indicator statistics for Swansea's 148 Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) and other geographies; including Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs - 31 in Swansea), the three local Constituency Areas, Swansea local authority area and Wales.

Whilst the Index itself is generally published every three to five years, the indicator data is usually updated annually by Welsh Government, as far as possible - depending on data availability and resources.  However, publication plans for future updates are yet to be confirmed.

If you would like any further information or local data from WIMD, including indicator data for previous years, please contact us.
