Safer caring, risk management and allegations against carers
This course has been specifically developed for all foster carers and child care residential workers. The course will explore what safer caring means, how to limit and minimise the risk of allegations and the investigative process if a child makes an allegation against you.
Course aim
Participants will consider:
- What safer caring is and who it applies to
- Consider why children and young people in care make allegations
- Guidance on what happens when an allegation or complaint is made against a carer
- Are you risk sensible or risk averse?
- The impact of abuse and neglect on safer caring
- Strategies to creating a safe and caring environment for children
