Panto cast sails off leaving fond memories in its wake

Around 34,000 people had a swashbuckling time at Swansea Grand Theatre's latest panto.

Peter Pan ran for a month from early December until it weighed anchor this month (note: January).

Tristan Gemmill, Kevin Johns and Ricky K were among its cast.

Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council's cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: "A big thank you to the whole cast, production crew and other theatre staff for their professionalism and dedication throughout this amazing run.

"Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy and Captain Hook were brilliant, as were all other characters.

"The Grand's pantos are a top seasonal favourite and Peter Pan exceeded all expectations. Ticket sales were a strong match for previous years."

Tristan Gemmill, who played Captain Hook, said: "I was delighted to play the glorious Swansea Grand.

"It was extra special to be part of a brilliant cast that delivered fun and laughter for the audiences.

"I thank the people of Swansea for supporting us so strongly; they were a crucial part of the panto fun!"

A key element of Peter Pan was a series of accessible performances, enabling everyone to enjoy the theatre.

More than 537 people attended a relaxed performance specially designed for those with autistic spectrum disorders, learning or sensory needs and around 100 hearing impaired patrons attended the two British Sign Language interpreted performances.

A parent who attended the relaxed performance said: "We had a brilliant time at the panto. It was a relaxed performance and we were made to feel very at ease. The atmosphere was great. Thank you, Grand Theatre!"

Swansea Grand Theatre's 2020-21 panto is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with a relaxed performance on January 6 at 7pm and British Sign Language Interpreted performances on January 5 at 7pm and January 6 at 2pm.
