An online event is being held this Thursday (December 16) about opportunities forming part of the new high-tech office development that's set for the former Oceana nightclub site.

Swansea Council is leading on the scheme, with main contractor Bouygues UK having now set up a site compound in readiness for construction work.

Other opportunities for supply chain businesses include structural steel, street furniture, road markings, signage, specialist joinery, cleaning, fire protection and landscaping.

The online event for businesses will last from 9am to 2pm via Microsoft Teams, with 15-minute slots available for businesses to book time with project representatives.

Organisations supporting the online Meet the Buyer event include Swansea Council, Bouygues UK, Business Wales, Sell2Wales, the Construction Industry Training Board, the Swansea Bay City Deal and Cyfle.

Cllr Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, said: "As well as providing space for 600 jobs in the digital and tech sectors once complete, the new office development on The Kingsway will offer many opportunities for local and regional businesses to benefit throughout the construction phase.

"This is important for the local economy, so I'd encourage businesses in the areas identified to book a spot at the Meet the Buyer event to find out more.

"The new office development follows-on from a £12m transformation of The Kingsway in to a far more pleasant, green environment as our city centre regeneration plans gather even more pace."

The five-storey office scheme, due for completion in the summer of 2023, is being part-funded by the £1.3bn Swansea Bay City Deal and supported by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.

Set to be carbon zero in operation and worth £32.7 million a year to Swansea's economy, the scheme will include 114,000 square feet of commercial floor space for flexible co-working and office opportunities.
