Housing services set for Y Storfa move from High Street
Swansea Council's Housing Options and Housing Support services will be relocating later this year from their current base on High Street to the new Y Storfa development in the city centre.
Taking shape at the former BHS unit on Oxford Street, an opening date for the Y Storfa community services hub will soon be confirmed.
The Housing Options and Housing Support services will remain open and available throughout - both at their High Street office as normal until the move takes place and then at Y Storfa itself.
Cllr Andrea Williams, Swansea Council's Joint Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Service Transformation, said: "The Y Storfa development on Oxford Street will be a modern, accessible hub that brings a range of community services together under one roof in the heart of Swansea.
"It's been designed to make it easier for residents to get the help they need, all in one convenient location.
"Our Housing Options and Housing Support teams will be among those based at the new development - and the vital services they provide will continue to be open throughout the move.
"We'll confirm an opening date for Y Storfa as well as the last day Housing Options and Housing Support will be operating from their current base on High Street as soon as the details are finalised."
The Housing Options service focuses on preventing homelessness wherever possible. The team offers advice and practical support to help people remain in their homes or find suitable alternative accommodation.
The Housing Support service provides free, housing-related support to anyone aged 16 and over who lives in Swansea.
This includes help with budgeting, claiming benefits, managing rent arrears, setting up home, accessing education or work, and addressing issues such as domestic abuse or substance misuse.
