Over the coming weeks the renovated properties near Dyfatty lights will become home to a range of new uses including pop up businesses, educational and leisure activities and outreach work.

People living nearby along with charities and third sector organisations had a chance to look at the transformation at a St David's Day themed event this week.

There was a brisk turnout with residents putting forward further suggestions as they were entertained with traditional Welsh folk music and the offer of light refreshments, soup courtesy of the volunteers at nearby Matthew's House and of course Welsh cakes.

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Supporting Communities Alyson Pugh said: "I'm so excited about the potential of these units and I'm proud of the transformation that has taken place.

"What was once a row of run down empty shops is now an amazing community space and I know there are many who can't wait to see these buildings open and to start making use of them.

"What has always been important to us is that it is up to the community what goes here and how they are used.
