The short film, which Swansea Council has put together using footage from its West Glamorgan Archive Service, shows the late Queen and Prince Philip visiting the city's Guildhall.

Crowds of local well-wishers are also included in the video, along with the royal couple's car journey through the city and their departure from Swansea railway station.

Swansea venues including Vue Cinema will be showing the Queen's funeral on Monday (September 19), although the big screen in Castle Square is no longer operational. It is planned to replace the big screen as part of the new-look Castle Square in future.

Cllr Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, said: "Swansea - like all communities across the UK - continues to mourn the passing of HM the Queen.

"This fascinating footage from 1965 shows one of her many visits to Swansea over the years, and is one of several ways in which we're celebrating her remarkable life and considerable achievements.

"Residents have also been paying their respects by leaving flowers at Guildhall Rotunda and signing a book of condolence that's available in the Civic Centre and online."
