The Awards are among the most prestigious for UK businesses of all sizes.

Award categories include innovation, sustainable development, international trade and promoting growth through social mobility.

This year, over 90% of winners were small and medium-sized enterprises, with 44 winning businesses having 10 employees or less.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: "Swansea's businesses are the lifeblood of our city and county's economy. The last 18 months or so have been especially challenging for businesses, given the impact of the pandemic, but the council is committed to doing all it can to help through several schemes forming part of our £20 million economic recovery fund.

"Many of our businesses have been particularly innovative since the onset of Covid-19, so this awards scheme gives the chance for worthy recognition that could potentially lead to considerable marketing opportunities and media exposure, increased turnover and a boost to staff morale.

"I'd encourage Swansea's businesses to apply for a Queen's Award for Enterprise thanks to their outstanding contribution to Swansea, the City Region, Wales and the UK as a whole."

Louise Fleet, The Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan, said: "The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are national awards and offer local and global recognition for business.

"Winners tell us that the Awards are now more important than ever as the Emblem is a royal seal of approval which helps them compete on the world stage with much larger companies. It also offers winners an opportunity to connect with and do business with other winners and help and assist other companies."

Award winners are permitted to use the recognised Royal Emblem for five years and will be invited to a celebratory Royal reception. The Awards will be presented by Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for West Glamorgan.
