Child protection / safeguarding awareness training - level 2
This full day's training course has been designed to offer practitioners, within their settings, an awareness of child protection and their safeguarding roles and responsibilities.
Course aim
- Revisit the Codes of Professional Practice
- Consider what abuse and neglect are
- Understand the difference between the terms 'Safeguarding' and 'Child Protection'
- Consider the laws regarding children in need of protection
- Who abuses children?
- Name and define the categories of abuse (Spot It)
- Know how to respond should a child make an allegation
- Know how and who to report any concerns to (Report It)
Who should attend?
- Multi-agency
- Any staff that have direct contact with children in a variety of roles
Qualified child and family social workers will not need to attend unless identified as a need by managers.

Through presentation, exercises, film clips and group discussion.
