Tasty! A food first for Swansea shoppers

Swansea Market is celebrating an innovative global first.

The venue's latest food stall offers inventive treats available nowhere else in the world - meals served in bread the shape of bowler hats!

The method and machinery to create the unique loaves was devised, invented and fine-tuned by engineer Clayton Worth.

Known as the bowl with a roll, the top of mini-loaf can be separated from the bottom to produce an edible bowl and a roll for dipping.

Now, Clayton and daughter Hannah have opened food unit Bowla that stands alongside other Swansea Market food stalls that serve thousands of meals every week in cuisine ranging from Thai to Mexican and Greek to Japanese.

Clayton bakes the rolls fresh every day in the market stall that'll act as Bowla HQ, with the family-run business aiming to run pop-up shops and regular outreach in and around Swansea.

Hannah serves Bowlas with an ever-changing range of locally-created fillings. She said: "It's great to be in the market - there's always so much happening here and an increasing number of great food outlets."

Swansea Market is managed by Swansea Council. Cabinet member and joint deputy leader David Hopkins said: "Bowla is an exciting new innovative business and it's one of the many that'll help Swansea be a place where people want to live, work, study and spend quality free time."
