Last year's event organised by Swansea Council and its partners was a huge success with hundreds of people attending.

This year promises to be even better with the event starting at 11am on the beach by the Secret Bar and Kitchen opposite St Helen's rugby and cricket ground.

There are live musical acts on the hour from noon until 5pm, including the Ageing Well Choir, while there will also be beach activities and information stalls.

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Community Support, Hayley Gwilliam, said: "I'm so pleased that following last year's success we are able to work with our partners to stage this event again.

"It's a free afternoon out and what better to way spend it than to bring along a picnic and enjoy what promises to be some great entertainment.

"This is one of dozens of free and subsidised events organised by our Ageing Well Team and I'd really encourage people to sign-up to the newsletter to keep up to date with what's available.

"If you know of anyone who is not online but would benefit then please feel free to sign-up for your mum or dad, brother, sister, friend or neighbour.

"There really should be something to suit everyone."
