The role of a parental supporter

Parents may feel overwhelmed when dealing with their child's Additional Learning Needs (ALN). In this situation, a parental supporter may be able to help.

Sometimes parents may feel 'out of their depth' when dealing with their child's Additional Learning Needs. In a situation like this, many parents find it extremely helpful to call upon someone else to support and help them. It is good practice for schools to encourage parents to bring a 'supporter' with them to a meeting. This may be a relative, a friend or an 'independent parental supporter'.
