Upper Bank Cycle Route Project
The Council has recently completed the construction of a new shared surface, traffic-free, cycle and pedestrian link from Jersey Road, Llansamlet to Nantong Way.
The route will follow the line of the former Swansea Vale Railway Line, around the edge of Pluck Lake, and linking to Morfa Retail Park and beyond. The scheme will offer upgraded links to the existing cycle network, including National Cycle Route 43. The scheme also includes the provision of a new cycle crossing facility on Brunel Way outside the Liberty Stadium and a new section of shared use path along the River Tawe fronting, the Copper Quarter development.
The scheme has been funded by through Welsh Government Local Transport Fund and will provide pedestrian and cycle links to Swansea Enterprise Park and residential settlements in the area. The route has been carefully aligned to preserve the flora and fauna within the site and the works have been developed with due consideration for the numerous rare Lichens and Bryophytes identified by ecologists.
The route adds to the list of family friendly traffic free cycle tracks within Swansea and highlights the Authority's commitment to encourage sustainable modes of transportation."
