Celebrate your sporting heroes this March in the Swansea Sports Awards.

Swansea has a proud tradition of producing great sports people. It takes dedication, determination and hours of hard work to maintain the city of sport we know and love.
Whether it's the volunteer or the coach who puts in hour after hour behind the scenes, the team which has been the most successful through the year or the sportsperson that has achieved the most in their sport, Swansea is a city full of sporting champions.

The Swansea Sports Awards ceremony will take place from 7pm on Thursday 28 March 2024, at the Brangwyn Hall in association with Freedom Leisure.

Our athletes have worked extremely hard this year and we look forward to recognising and honouring their achievements and outstanding contributions to sport through the Swansea Sports Awards.

At the Swansea Sports Awards there are 13 awards across the categories:

  • Inspiring Young Person of the Year sponsored by ArvatoConnect (opens new window)

    Open to any young person, aged 25 years or under on the 1st January 2023. Nominees will have given up their time to inspire more people to take part in, or engage with, sport or physical activity.  They are positive role models and use innovative approaches to encourage other to get involved in sport.  Nominees must offer help that has no financial reward, does not form part of their job, and does not take place at their place of work.

  • Volunteer of the Year sponsored by John Pye Auctions (opens new window)
    Open to any volunteer, who has given up their time and energy to volunteer within a sporting organisation.  Nominees must offer help that has no financial reward, does not form part of their job, and does not take place at their place of work.

  • Community Coach of the Year sponsored by Sport Wales (opens new window)
    Nominees must be a qualified coach delivering in a voluntary capacity within their sport and will have achieved success in getting more people active in sport and retaining their participation in a local community setting.
     
  • Performance Coach of the Year sponsored by Wales National Pool Swansea (opens new window)
    Nominees must be a qualified coach within their sport and will have achieved success in coaching individuals or teams performing at regional, national and/or international level.
     
  • Junior Sportsman of the Year sponsored by Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Swansea University (opens new window) Yr Adran Gwyddor Chwaraeon ac Ymarfer Corff, Prifysgol Abertawe
    Open to nominees who compete at a junior level. Nominees must have been aged 18 years or under on the 1st January 2023.
     
  • Junior Sportswoman of the Year sponsored by Pure Football Swansea (opens new window)
    Open to nominees who compete at a junior level. Nominees must have been aged 18 years or under on the 1st January 2023.
     
  • School Team of the Year sponsored by Gower College Swansea (opens new window)
    Open to Primary and Secondary School teams.  Team members must have represented the school team being nominated, between 1st January and 31st December 2023.  Please use a separate form for each team you wish to nominate.
     
  • Junior Club or Team of the Year sponsored by EYST Wales (opens new window)
    Open to teams who compete at a junior level. Team members must have been aged 18 years or under on the 1st January 2023.
     
  • Senior Club or Team of the Year sponsored by The Car Warehouse at FRF Motors (opens new window)
    Open to teams of amateur status, which compete at a senior level.  Teams must represent or be based in Swansea.
  • Getting Swansea Active - Award sponsored by St. Modwen Homes (opens new window)

    This award is for any individual, group of people, club, school, organisation, event, programme or project, that have inspired more people to participate in physical activity or have motivated themselves to become more active, between 1st January and 31st December 2023.   Examples of what we're looking for:

    ·         Evidence of getting new participants engaged in physical activity.

    ·         Reaching out to diverse communities / under-represented groups.

    ·         Encouraging others to promote physical activity.

    ·         New or innovative ideas to break down barriers to participation.

    ·         Not necessarily traditional 'sport'.

    ·         Created an enjoyable and welcoming sporting experience - regardless of ability or background.

    An individual who has overcome barriers and challenges to become more active.

  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability sponsored by Stowe Family Law (opens new window)
    Open to nominees who compete at a junior level. Nominees must have been aged 18 years or under on the 1st January 2023.
     
  • Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability sponsored by Nathaniel Cars (opens new window)
    Open to all nominees regardless of age.
     
  • Sportsperson of the Year sponsored by McDonald's (opens new window)
    Open to all nominees regardless of age.
