Sketty Park Woods

Sketty Park Woods encompasses a group of 5 small local woods in the Sketty area of Swansea, two of which are easily accessible.

Birch Tree Close - grid reference SS620925

This is the largest of the 5 sites with some large specimen broadleaved and conifer trees. The lower portion of the site is mainly beech with some oak, holly and yew. The upper portion of the site is mainly willow and ash. There is a lot of dead wood at the site which provides a great habitat for insects and fungi. There are some very wet patches of ground and a stream runs through most of the site.

Parklands - grid reference SS615925

An open area of oak parkland next to the local primary school. There is a path and a bench, some dead wood and old oak trees, a small seasonal pond, areas of bluebells and some scrub. There is one apple tree and some beech planting.
