Swansea Carmarthen Bay Coastal Engineering Group

Welcome to the Swansea / Carmarthen Bay Coastal Engineering Group.

The group was formed in 2003 following the merger of two adjacent coastal groups;

  • CarmarthenBay Coastal Engineering Group established in 1986
  • SwanseaBay Coastal Engineering Group established in 1990

The Group covers the coastal cells from Lavernock Point through Worms Head (Swansea) to St. Govan's Head - (Milford)

The Group and its members aim to ;

  • Foster a strategic approach to shoreline management in accordance with Welsh Assembly Government guidelines.
  • Provide a vehicle for joint funding of strategic studies, monitoring and high level target compliance.
  • Facilitate an exchange of information amongst its members and the public.
  • Produce sustainable policies for coastal defences taking into account natural coastal processes.
  • Provide strategic coastal management duties for over 200 km of coastline with an asset value of approximately £100m.
