A Prevention Strategy for Swansea 2017- 2020 - have your say

Would you like you to have your say on our Prevention Strategy for Swansea?

Swansea council has always taken a prevention approach, recognising that; 'prevention activity is better, less time consuming and ultimately less costly and damaging to individuals and organisations than cure'.

This strategy builds upon previous work and presents a more ambitious direction, aimed at delivering more sustainable services that meet people's needs and deliver better outcomes.  It is about supporting the development of a community and urban fabric, which has future resilience and independence in both the medium and long term.  Our citizens are central to our future and delivery, and as such, are the focus of our developments, driving cross cutting working across Council Departments and with partners.  Consequently, this strategy forms a key part of our corporate transformation programme and the way we will continue to develop our services with our partners.

The Prevention Strategy has been to Cabinet who agreed that this should go out for consultation.

The Council is consulting on these proposals until Monday 7 August 2017

We would like to invite you to submit your comments on the document during this period of public consultation.   Your views are very important so please spare a few minutes to complete this questionnaire. All your comments will be treated as confidential and the feedback you provide will help inform recommendations made to the Council's Cabinet.

Tackling Poverty Strategy

The council is also consulting on our revised Tackling Poverty Strategy as the Prevention Strategy and Tackling Poverty Strategy both link and complement each other.

Swansea Council is committed to reducing poverty and the impacts that poverty has upon its citizens.  The revised Tackling Poverty Strategy sets out our overarching corporate and partnership approach to tackling poverty, as well as outlining our key activities and expected outcomes.  It sets out our rationale and how we intend to support national, regional and local policy, including our Plan for a Sustainable Swansea.  This strategy is also about working with local people and partners in the public, private and third sectors in delivery, making a positive difference to the lives of local people, improving their quality of life and contributing to a Sustainable Swansea.
