Nature Conservation TeamThe Nature Conservation Team aims to protect, enhance and raise awareness of areas of ecological and landscape importance within the City and County of Swansea for the benefit of people and wildlife.The Team is dedicated to the conservation of Swansea's natural assets and plays an increasingly importance role in protecting Swansea's diverse range of habitats, flora and fauna. This resource is often taken for granted yet it contributes significantly to Swansea's economy and vibrancy making Swansea such a special place to live, work and visit.  Biodiversity is the variety of life on earth. It encompasses the rich variation to be found in living organisms; the variety within a species, between species, from one habitat to another and between ecosystems. It is not restricted to just rare or threatened species but includes the whole of the natural world from the common place to the critically endangered.
 With hundreds of Environmental Events going on, a host of wildlife just waiting to live in your garden and loads of voluntary opportunities in our area there has never been a better time to get stuck in and do your bit, or simply enjoy our wonderful environment.
 In 2005 the Swansea Biodiversity Partnership, produced a document called "Promoting Swansea's Natural Environment: A Local Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan"
 The importance of Swansea for nature conservation is indicated by the large number of local, national and international designated sites. These show case the best but wildlife can also benefit from sympathetically managed gardens, parks and green spaces.
 Since its successful launch in January 2008, over 11,000 schools across the UK have registered to take part in BBC Breathing Places Schools. As the campaign comes to an end the City & County of Swansea want to continue the momentum and interest created by proving ongoing support to schools.
