Morfa Distributor Road

Morfa Distributor Road has been designed to boost regeneration of the Tawe Riverside Corridor from the Liberty Stadium to New Cut Road.

The route will follow the line of the former Swansea Canal before linking to Morfa Road which will be upgraded as part of the proposals.

The Morfa Distributor Road will improve access to jobs and services, open the corridor to development, reduce congestion and air quality problems on the A4067 Neath Road in the Hafod and improve walking and cycling links.

The road will be 1.7km in length and will deliver a 3 metre shared use path along its length linking with and complementing the parallel riverside route which is expected to be delivered in its full extent in the coming years in accordance with the Tawe Riverside Corridor Strategy (2006).

The scheme is being developed in stages to tie-in with redevelopment proposals along the route and to align with a phased funding programme. It includes the provision of a new joint use footway / cycleway and will enhance links to the nearby historic Copperworks area as well as the riverside.

The project is being funded by a Welsh Government Local Transport Grant and contributions from developers of adjoining land.
