Leadfield, Ffynnon Deml

In contrast to the designed landscape of the neighbouring Morriston Park, this is a large area of open grassland (currently grazed by ponies) with a boggy area that provides a great habitat for amphibians like frogs, toads and newts.

Several years ago the local communities fought off a planning application to develop the site and its future as an area of open space now seems secure.

There is presently little tree cover but there are plans for a community woodland to be planted here in the future. There are some interesting archaeological features on the site including an old well and the remnants of ancient field workings.
