Alcohol

image depicting Cocktail

The Health Promotion Division promotes sensible drinking levels, to local authority staff and members of the public.

A number of initiatives have taken place including providing alcohol free cocktail tasters and information at the Quadrant and other local venues.  The team has also linked with the Blue Light Disco in Swansea to promote alcohol alternatives to teenagers.

This work forms part of the partnership working carried out by the Swansea Substance Misuse Action Team (SMAT).  The harm reduction campaign has provided opportunity for the City and County of Swansea, the Police Authority and the specialist Substance Misuse agencies in the area to work together.

Units Calculator

Unfortunately you can't just count each drink as a unit of alcohol. The number of units depends on the different strength and size of each drink, so it can vary a lot.

The NHS have created a calculator to help you plan a night out, or help you work out how much you drank last night. It's simple to use: just click on your drink, choose a strength and volume then calculate the units. You can calculate and add up the units of multiple drinks.
