Garden Waste Collection

image depicting Garden waste bag

Garden waste is collected on a fortnightly basis from the kerbside in a white bag. The collections are made on your GREEN WEEK collection.

You have been been provided with 2 reusable garden waste bags. The bags are collected on a fortnightly basis on the same day as your green bags.  New bags can be purchased from the Civic Centre and a number of other locations at 50p each.  This charge will be made whether the bags are additional or replacements.  Try to avoid your bags going astray by writing your house number on them.

The service will continue to be free of charge with collections fortnightly on your 'green' week. A maximum of 10 garden bags can be placed out for any single collection.

Once collected, these materials are shredded and composted.  This soil enhancer is available free of charge from the Tir John Community Recycling Site, Danygraig Road at St Thomas throughout the year.

Image depicting Collection SearchPlease check our Recycling & Rubbish Collection Search to see if you are on the scheme.  Bags will only be collected from households on the scheme.

During weeks that include a public or bank holiday, collection days will be altered.  For information on this years collection changes see Holiday Collections.  Collections may also be altered because of severe weather conditions, or other problems.  These changes will be published on the website.

  • Write your house number on the bag if you wish.  Please note that we will not collect garden waste from any other container or bag.
  • Bags must be out by 7am. on your normal recycling collection day.
  • Put the bags in a prominent position so they are not blocked from sight by gate post or parked car
  • This is a completely separate collection from your green bags and maybe collected earlier/ later than your green bags
  • If you have nowhere for us to put your bag please place a weight next to the bags to help secure bags after they have been emptied.
