And the charity is celebrating it’s 30th birthday at the Life Begins@50…60..70…80..90 event at Brangwyn Hall next week, November 9. Sue Richards, Director of the charity said, “We’re an extremely hard-working charity and we’re so busy we’ve hardly had time to think about our birthday! “We’re very pleased to be involved as co-organisers of Life Begins@. Our aim is to encourage older people to live life to the full. This informative day will give more ideas to improve everyone’s well being. “Age Concern Swansea is very much a local charity and we’re very grateful for all the support we’ve had over the last 30 years from the people of Swansea. All our fundraising and all our work with older people takes place in the city and county.” Over the last 30 years hundreds of thousands of older people have been supported by the work of the charity in a variety of different ways. The charity has helped clients access more than £10m of welfare benefits in the last few years. Age Concern Swansea also runs a comprehensive Hospital Discharge Scheme, a Supporting People Home Visiting Scheme for 200 people every week, Speak Up for Older People input into planning for Social Services, a Carer’s Support Service, IT training for older people, and the Swansea Centre Lunch Club.
