Reindeer Swansea stop-off to launch Christmas
SANTA'S reindeer are stopping off in Swansea city centre just over a month before they take flight across the world.
The reindeer are among many fun attractions that will form part of the Christmas Cracker launch party on Saturday (November 17).
They'll be on hand to welcome visitors by Zara on Princess Way from 11am till about 3pm. Traditional bag-piping has also been arranged as well as face-painting, Christmas crafts and a special elf with some balloon magic. There'll also be a Christmas-themed rodeo ride for children.
A stage is being set up near the entrance to Castle Square on the day. Live entertainment will come from The Shuffle Band, and John Adams, who appeared on the 2011 season of The X Factor.
Swansea Council is behind the festive fun.
Local radio station The Wave will be setting up a trailer on Oxford Street where people can collect a free mince pie voucher courtesy of Swansea Market and get a chance to enter a competition to win a day out including skating, theatre and more.
Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: "This is going to be a terrific weekend in Swansea when a series of events will help put Christmas at the forefront of people's minds.
"Events like the city centre Christmas launch party are important for a number of reasons. They not only generate a fantastic atmosphere for visiting families but they also attract shoppers into our city centre during a crucially important time for our traders.
"With a choice of over 240 stores, the city centre offers something for everyone."
Other events taking place this weekend include the return of Waterfront Winterland to Museum Park from Friday (November 16) and the annual Christmas parade on Sunday (November 18).
