Wales Rally GB will leave you breathless

THE BIGGEST single event in British sport is setting up shop in Swansea later this month to offer one lucky family to see highlights of the Wales Rally GB for free.

The rally, from September 16 to 19, attracts more than 120,000 sports fans from all over the world and Swansea’s going to be at the epicentre of it all thanks to the Rally Centre at Felindre.

And one lucky family will go to the Swansea Rally Centre for free if they pop along to the Quadrant Shopping Centre on August 21 and 22. Shoppers at the centre will have the chance see a rally car up close as well as win WRGB goodies and a family ticket to Felindre.

The rally centre, just off junction 46 of the M4, is going to be at the heart of the action throughout the four days.

Nigel Jones, Special Events Manager at Swansea Council, said WRGB is a huge draw. “This is a tremendous advert for Swansea,” he said.

Alan Wallace, manager of the Quadrant Centre, added, “We're delighted to be working with the Council to help promote the Rally.  Major events such as this are always good news for Swansea. Even though the Service Park will be based at Felindre, we are confident that it will have positive spin-offs for the city centre in terms of additional visitors.”

Easy route to see WRGB

Advance tickets for the Swansea Rally Centre start at £7.50 for adults or £3.50 for children. On the day they will cost £10. Last year more than 30,000 people visited the centre. It's open at different times across the four days of the event, so check in advance by going to the website, www.walesrallygb.com.

For ticketing arrangements for other parts of the rally call 0870 060 1764 or visit the website.

Four days of mountain and forest

The Swansea Rally Centre will be the focal point for all the teams, especially with the introduction of Parc Ferme, giving fans the chance to see all the teams in action at the start and finish of each day.

Four days of competition start and finish in Cardiff and sandwiched in between are 19 stages in some of the most challenging rugged forest tracks and mountain countryside in South, Mid and West Wales.

Highlights include the spectacular jump entry into Walter's Arena, Neath and a brand new stage in Epynt.
