Stop Smoking in Your Car

image depicting Smoking in your car poisons your child

Fresh Start Wales aims to reduce children's exposure to second-hand smoke by encouraging parents and relatives to stop smoking around them when they are in the car - or better still to give up smoking altogether.

The first step on your Fresh Start journey is to make your car smoke free. Kids and babies are particularly vulnerable to second hand toxins.

  • Smoking in cars with children exposes them to over 4,000 deadly chemicals.
  • Opening the car window does not help.
  • Dangerous chemicals remain in the car for up to 2 hours after you have put out your cigarette.
  • The dangerous chemicals stay in car seats, roofing and carpets, so your kids are at risk even if you smoke when they are not in the car.

You can find out more about the campaign from the Fresh Start Wales website.  You can also join the pledge to stop smoking in your cars.
